Single Bet

A single or straight bet is a wager on the outcome of a single event or game. Depending on the type of line you select, winning the bet is determined by the outright winner, the point spread, or the combined scores of both teams involved in the event. Your payout is determined by the odds that are posted at the time you place the bet.

Action Points

This type of wager is available for football and basketball. This is for the bettor who not only can predict which team will win the game, but by how many points. Your wager is capped from 1 point to a maximum of 10 points, and the wager you risk cannot exceed your available balance. On this type of wager, you risk $110 for every $100 wagered.

Example:

Boston Celtics
195
Cleveland Cavaliers
-5

Suppose you wager $100 a point on the Cleveland Cavaliers and ask for a cap of 10 points. Cleveland must win by at least 5 points, and for every point over the point spread of 5 that they win by, you win $100. You have the chance of winning between $100 and $1,000. If Cleveland wins by 9 points, your net winnings would be $400. On the other hand, if Cleveland fails to cover the point spread, you risk $110 for every point that they fall short of the 5-point spread. You can also use totals either over or under, or the underdog in the game.

Parlays
This play is a selection of multiple teams (2-10 teams) in no particular order, all in one play. All teams must win by the point spread margin. The more teams in the parlay, the greater the payoff.

Example

Portland Trail Blazers
+4
San Antonio Spurs
-10

The payout in a 2 team parlay is 13/5. This means you are risking $100 to win $260. In case of a tie or no action the parlay will revert to the lower level payoff, except in a 2 team parlay where a tie reverts to a straight bet. (Remember, you cannot lose more than your original risk amount in a parlay. So if you had a 2 team parlay for $100 with a PUSH and it reverted to a straight bet, it would be risking $100 to win $91)

Teasers
This is a wager in which 2 to 4 teams are selected together in one play with an adjusted point spread. In a teaser you can add points to the sides or mix both sides and totals adding to or subtracting from the totals. If one selection loses or pushes the teaser is considered a loss.

Example: 2 team teaser 5pts for $100

Lakers
+4(+5) pts
the teased line is now +9
Knicks
-3(+5) pts
the teased line is now +2

The payout in a 2 team teaser with 5 points is 10/12 In this case you will lay $120 to win $100.
“The only exception is on any two team teaser where a game is either postponed, cancelled, or is refunded for whatever reason (E.g., change of venue), your wager will be refunded regardless of whether your other selection wins or loses.”

"If" Bets
“If” Bets allow the customer to make a second wager pending a win on the first selection. “If” Bets must be made on one call, and the second part of the “if” wager can exceed the amount of the first selection. There are two types of “If” wagers, “If Action” and “If-Win-Only”. In an “If Action” wager, the bottom half of the wager will have “Action” on any scenario except a LOSS from the top. In other words, you will have a valid wager in the event that the top part of the “If Action”: Wins, Ties or Cancels. In an “If-Win-Only” wager, the top part of the wager MUST WIN, in order to have action on the bottom half. If it does not WIN, there is no action to the bottom half. You cannot use a spread to a money line or a money line to a spread in this type of wager.

Example:

Dallas Cowboys
-5
$110 to win $100
IF (If Action)
Carolina Panthers
+4
$110 to win $100

If the Cowboys lose, the wager stops there and is scored a loser -$110; if the Cowboys win +$100 the wager continues to the Panthers wager; if the Panthers win, the wager is a $200 winner; if the Panthers lose the wager becomes a $10 loss.

Reverse Wagers
Reverse wagers are double action IF bets.

Part A:
Cowboys
-5
$110 to win $100
IF (win, tie or cancel)
Dolphins
-14
$110 to win $100
Part B:
Dolphins
-14
$110 to win $100
IF (win, tie or cancel)
Cowboys
-5
$110 to win $100

+400
One win, one loss
-120
Both teams lose
-220
One Pushes
+200
In the event of a PUSH on one side and a loss on the other, you would have double action on the other side of the wager. For example, the Dolphins win the game by 14 points (A PUSH) but the Cowboys do not win by 5 or more points, the wager would result in a total loss of -220 because the Cowboys would lose twice due to the PUSH.
Circled Games

  • CIRCLED games are not allowed in hook-ups. This means straight wagers only.
  • You cannot buy points on a CIRCLED game.
  • The reason a game is put into a CIRCLE is due to an unknown status of a key player or players. Once the information about the player or players is released, we will release the CIRCLE allowing normal wagering to resume.

Round Robin

A round robin is a convenient way to create multiple parlays at one time. You can select between three and eight lines and then combine them in parlays of two to six teams. The advantage is that generally you need to hit on only one winning combination to make your money back for the entire round robin.

For example, suppose you are confident in the following three lines:

New England Patriots -8
Buffalo Bills +4
Minnesota Vikings -10
Rather than creating a three-team parlay, you can place a round robin and create all possible two-team parlays from the three lines.

First parlay:
New England Patriots -8
Buffalo Bills +4
Risk $5 to win $13 (2.6/1 odds)

Second parlay:
New England Patriots -8
Minnesota Vikings -10
Risk $5 to win $13 (2.6/1 odds)

Third parlay:
Buffalo Bills +4
Minnesota Vikings -10
Risk $5 to win $13 (2.6/1 odds)

Your total risk amount for the three-team, two-way round robin is $15 to win a maximum of $39.

TYPES OF LINES

The types of lines you can bet on the RealBettors Sportsbook are Point spreads, Moneylines, and Totals which can be combined in several wager types.

Point Spreads

The point spread (runline in baseball) is the handicap, or head start, that the linesmaker gives to the underdog. Rather than just winning outright, the favorite must win by more than the point spread ("cover the spread") for bets on the favorite to win.

Let's say the Indianapolis Colts are playing the Arizona Cardinals in the NFL. All signs point to the Colts being the favorite and the Cardinals being the underdog. The linesmaker might decide to give the Cardinals a four-point head start, which would look like this:

Colts -4
Cardinals +4

If you bet on the Colts, you'll win your bet if they win the game by more than four points (i.e., if their score is higher even after you subtract four points from it). If you bet on the Cardinals, however, you'll win your bet if they lose by no more than three points (i.e., if their score is higher after you add four points to it). If the point adjustment results in a tie (in this example, if the Colts win by exactly four points), the wager will be graded "Push" and your money will be refunded. How much you stand to win is determined by the moneyline odds attached to the point spread. When no odds are listed, the line is standard (i.e., -110).
Moneylines

When you make a moneyline wager, you're betting on the outright winner of the event, without taking the point spread into consideration. There are still favorites and underdogs, but instead of being handicapped or assisted by head starts, the competitors are given odds to win the game or event.

Let's return to the NFL game where the Indianapolis Colts are favorites against the Arizona Cardinals. The odds might look like this:

Colts -150
Cardinals +130

If you bet on the Colts, you'll have to risk $150 to win $100 (or any other variation like $75 to win $50 or $300 to win $200). If you bet on the Cardinals, however, you stand to win $130 for every $100 you wager. If the final score of the game is tied, the wager will be graded "Push" and your money will be refunded.

Totals (Over/Under)

The total is the combined scores of both teams involved in an event. Rather than betting on which team will win the event, you can bet on whether the game will go over (o) or under (u) the specified amount - which is why this type of line is also known as an over/under.

For example, suppose the total for the game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Arizona Cardinals is listed as 46. If the Colts end up winning 27-20, the final combined score is 47. If you bet over, you would win. If the final combined score matches the total (in this example, if the combined score is exactly 46), the wager will be graded "Push" and your money will be refunded. Again, how much you stand to win is determined by the moneyline odds attached to the over or under.
